BUSINESS
After our marriage on January 23, 1994 and at the end of the month I received my salary as well as my wife who recieved her check from CAMTEL, A Mobile Company owned by a Thai businessman.
I told my wife we can not stop at this point, we must find a way to do a business but we did not have enough funds to start. So we decided to get a loan from her brother in law (Hai). August 23, 1994 her brother in law agreed to gives us $3000.00 dollar for six month term with no interest. We took over a small telephone shop, at the time it was an authorized dealer of CAMTEL on the Monivong Blvd., and paid the owner about $650.00.
Now we have to find a location to rent for small business with a booming industry. We rented a small room in the corner of Monivong Blvd and Oresey St. for $250.00 a month. Our shop was named Lucky Motorol Shop and my wife resigned from CAMTEL and help run our business. We worked seven days a week and 14 hours a day, and no holidays.
May 1, 1996 to April 2000 our store was the first store in Cambodia that sold mobile phones and I was awarded a a Master dealer for Shinawatra, Mobitel, Camtel, and SAMART. I was part of the company in solving many issues facing our industry with the government regulations.
September 1, 1998 extended our business and changed the way we worked and paid for nothing so we decided to buy property near the Khan 7 Makara closed to the Ministry of Tourism and later sold to Gen. Mao Sophal for $120,000.00.
Since April 2002 to present, I bought and sold three gas stations, two convenience stores and two donuts shops.
I only bought a business that the current owner could not run and was not run properly and sold it for a very good profit.
Now I am a business broker, with the hope to help other people will do the same. When you are your own boss you have sacrifice a lot of freedom and must have a self commitment to your business, otherwise you will not able to pay your loans.
In the business is important to understand when it is your business that the customer is always right and as long as you follow that moto you business will succeed. |
