ABOUT US

I was born in a poor family, where my mother was not able read our language but my father was a traditional musician and served lon Nol regime as an artillery men. I was born on July 02, 1970.

Before April 17, 1975 we were living in Sangkat #5 near the Presidents house in Psar Doeum Skao, Phnom Penh.

After Khmer Rough took over power my family repatriation to Moeung Russey district by train and assigned to a countryside called Phom Chas.

We have 17 members including my uncles family after Ja/07/1979 there are only 7 people remaining. My mother was assigned to Kang Chalat. But because of the Khmer Rough we were forced to move around.

After the liberation from Khmer Rough my mother decided to move to Battambang province to seek her family members who were still alive. March 1979 our family moved to Serey Sorphoan (Banteay Meanchey) where later on I followed my grantmother to Thailand border called " Chhom Rom Nang Chan", where I was always working to help my grantmother and I was working as a boy selling " Tuk Kork Saro" I remembered " 5 baht per water badge".

We moved from one camp to another camp because they were always fighting amongst each group or being attacked by the Khmer Rough fighters. At the end of October 1980 I asked my grantmother to leave the camp and to seek a third country but she refused. Then I begged my uncle to go with him but he said no because he did not want me to leave my mother who was located at Banteay Meanchey.

I was kicked off from the bus by my uncle that picked up anyone who wished to seek a better life. Today, my uncle is living in California and he told me he made the biggest mistake of his life with not letting me go with him at that time.

Now there was alot of fighting going on along the border and the camp that I was living at may close soon so my grandmother decided to move to my moms village. Decebmer 1980, when I met my mother and brother, I found that my mother fell in love with a truck owner and became a second wife. I could not believe it and my mother instructed me to call him " father" instead of calling him uncle. He did not like me and I did not like him either.

At 10yrs old I had still not been able to go to school but I had always loved people reading and listening to them read books. January 1981 I attended public school for the first time at grade 1 after six months I was promoted to grade 3. Since my step-father was not like me and did not take care of me, I had to learn to survive on my own.

I worked as a cleaner and water supplier to the residents of my village who may need water from the well, in return I received a little money for my school and food. In 1983 my family moved from Banteay Meanchey to Battambang province where I graduated to the 7th grade and decided to joined the resistance troop on FEB 02, 1987. I had only one shirt and pair of shorts to wear to school every day until my last day. I was very good at math and received the best student of the year award in math.

Before I decided to adventure into the jungle in 1987, I listened to radio VOA and other resistant stations where their troops location was and operations were. After I had all the information I decide to make history as young a man and to blow the ammunition stock at Vat Sangka on Feb 01, 1987. Which caused so much destruction which in turn led me to flee without telling my family.

On Feb 02, 1987 I begged a bus driver to take me to see my mother in Moeung Russey who at the time was plagued of and illness at Kach Ro Teas commune. I arrived Kach Ro Teas at appx. 10:30 a.m. I walked directly into Prey Ro Neam in hopes to see Para (Resistance force) or Khmer Rough fighters. I slept under the tree for one night with no food. The next day at the appointment I heard gun shot when I looked around I saw Para walking from Prey Ro Neam then I walked stright to them and introduce my self to them and informed them about our activities and was accepted by Major Dy, under commander of Gen. Kieng Vang, Division #6. I was assigned two sets of uniform and AK47 with grenade, other military items to survive in the jungle of Prey Roneam. My dream to serve my nation and defense freedom has became truth and sworn to serve and protect until the last blood to fight against the occupation force, Vietnamese troop from our country.
